If you have friends who tell you things like “I have seen videos on youtube, but you are crazy exalted” then this post is for them because they talk about The CrossFit explained to those who do not practice it.
There are many reasons that make CrossFit a form of training different from all other forms of training, while having many things in common with them.
As in other cases, CrossFit is practiced in a group and involves carrying out a certain number of activities. Similar to other forms of “Fitness” CrossFit trains some specific skills, ten to be precise and as in other cases there is always music to accompany the workouts.
Those who try CrossFit soon realize how boring other group activities and work in a normal gym are.
The first difference lies in the fact that CrossFit is never the same; the endless amount of exercises to be learned with all their variations and combinations that can be found in the WOD (workout of the day) are practically infinite making CrossFit always new and stimulating.
In CrossFit, everything is measured precisely and this gives you the opportunity to keep track of your improvements over time, as well as being able to compare yourself with other athletes and this makes CrossFit absolutely unique and absolutely adherent to the definition of ” fitness sport “.
It is difficult to understand if you are improving in the “Step” for example, because there are no objective and measurable parameters with which you can measure your performance and also the fact of repeating the same routine for months and months ultimately makes everything so automatic and mechanical to lose even its effectiveness.
The improvement of oneself and one’s abilities are actually the motivational drive of most CrossFitters.
In CrossFit it is really difficult to do well in everything and it is precisely this sense of inadequacy that gives the greatest motivational push to continue in practice with the aim of improving.
We can say that all the initial motivations that a person who approaches CrossFit may initially have, are false motivations, simple means, to get to the one and only motivation that drives those who practice CrossFit and that is to do better every time.
Someone thinks that the practice of a physical activity, we also say “fitness”, quoted because surely improper as a term, must have the objective of improving one’s physical form, some, more trivially, see in physical activity the means to succeed in enter the swimsuit of last year, others see us a “downsizing” of their figure but in reality we are talking about “side effects” that if in normal gyms are set as final goals, in CrossFit there are obvious consequences of the only and true only goal: to do better.
The improvement of themselves and their skills are actually the motivational drive of most CrossFitters who, in continuous competition with themselves, work to be able to lift that extra kg from the ground or to make that box jump that makes the difference in a WOD.
We work to improve our technique in every movement in search of perfection, moving our limit further and further. What we had set ourselves as the goal, that is the physical form, thus becomes a consequence, or rather, a simple means, used to instead reach a goal which, however, constantly moves away every time a step is conquered.
Boredom is another of the factors that differentiate “Fitness” from CrossFit
The boredom that affects those who repeat in an almost obsessive way the same movements until the margins for improvement are so small that they fall into depression and eventually even refuse that type of physical activity. In CrossFit it doesn’t exist.
Or once there is something new to learn and this universe is so boundless that the only limit is one’s imagination and a whole life would not be enough to learn everything there is to learn.
In the final analysis, it should be noted that while those who practice any other type of specialist physical activity look at CrossFit as a sport by obsessed fans, on the contrary CrossFit is compatible with all the others because it is precisely in their DNA to draw from all other specialized sports, transforming and adapting their characteristics to their own style.
Last, but not least, the role of the community about which I suggest reading this post.
